Vintage

Circa January 2005

Four years ago today Rodger and I had our first date (Oceans 12), four years ago tomorrow was our second date, and four years ago Wednesday was our third date. After that I lost count.

"We Run"

Snake oil and roses. Pockets of dirt.
Hands of a fortune teller's son
Young love shaking the earth, like a
heart shot out of a gun.
Lips like gravity pull me under.
Wreckless weather on his breath.
Smells like rain, it hits like thunder.
A storm is coming, I got nothing left.

So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run.
Come undone like a string on a
sweater, that you pull but you
know better,
But doing what you shouldn'ts half the fun. So we run.

Fire and laughter. Fence posts flying.
Feel the fever in the air.
Can't remember what came before him,
and what comes after I don't care.
Hands are tremblin'. I Swore I wouldn't.
One more look and I'll give in.
Hundred reasons why I shouldn't.
But I lost my heart and wanted him to win.

So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run.
Come undone like a string on a sweater, old
enough and should know better
But doin' what you shouldn'ts half the fun. So we fun.

I hear the lever on his voice. It's
a calling not a choice,
And I can't keep myself from following the sound.
Yeah you may never know, how fast that you can go,
Till someone lifts your feet up off the ground.
So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run.
Come undone... Yeah Yeah Yeah, undone.
So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run.
So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run. Yeah.

Tinsel Triathlon 2008

A new holiday tradition is the Tinsel Triathlon. Rodger and my dad do the race and my mom and I watch (Everyone is welcome to come and spectate as well). This is the second year that they participated.

The race was last Sunday the 14th. It was a REALLY COLD morning in Hemet. I wore about 5 layers and I was just standing around. I have no idea how any of the participants dealt with the cold. I guess moving at the fast pace helps.

Rodger did so great, he even passed my dad in the run. But then my dad passed him on the bike. How many times do I need to suggest that they just stay together before they actually take my advice? Then maybe they could hold hands at the finish line. That would be cute right? J/K!

Cute butt!

If you put these two pictures together then there is one good one. Well we tried, I guess people don't feel like having their pictures taken when they are half naked in the 40 degree weather.

Proud girlfriend! Could I be wearing any more clothes?

Good job Dad and Rodger. Time to start training for the Tinsel Triathlon 2009!

Cativity Scene

I have been wanting one of these for awhile and could never find one. Then in October when I was getting my hair done and I was looking through one of Dominique's catalogs I spotted it.

A couple of months later I ordered it online and now it sits atop my dresser and brings me endless joy. I can't look at it without smiling. Definitely a new favorite Christmas decoration.

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Probably in my top five favorite things about Christmas is the tree. I always look forward to getting it and bringing it home to decorate. This year it was fun picking out the tree in actual winter like weather. I like that much better than getting it in 80 plus degrees weather.

This year's tree is BEAUTIFUL!

We had a great time decorating it and listening to Christmas music. It's always fun to reminisce while hanging all of the ornaments.

The tree in its natural beauty.

I love showing the cats where they can do the most damage.

I love the lights and please note the Santa tree topper, a Christmas tree staple at our house. Rodger said he is "leaning like a cholo". (spelling?)

The finished product. She is a beauty.

Lucy Goose Creekmur

This is not a Holiday post rather a bittersweet post about our cat Lucy. We had to have Lucy put to sleep yesterday because she was not eating and could barely walk anymore. She was 15 years old and lived a long and happy life.

I was in 6th grade when we got her. My parents went and picked her up at a pet store while Vickie and I were in school. It was a couple of months after our cat Goldie had died and she was a very nice surprise. My mom told us to go open the bathroom door to see her but we couldn't find her. She had climbed in the cupboard and was lying by a white towel. She was such a cute kitten and grew into a very pretty cat.

She got sick when she was about two years old and was in the hospital for about a week with an IV in her arm but she came home and got much better. One Christmas we found her laying in the Christmas tree. She was so petite that she didn't even bother the tree.

When Vickie's cat Moe moved home a few years ago he would follow her around and wanted to be by her all the time. She hated him of course and was not sad to see him move out with Vickie. LOL!

After I moved back home, every time Rodger and I would bring food up to my room she would follow us in there and wait to be fed whatever we were eating. We will miss that.

She was part of the family and she will be missed but it's nice to know that she is no longer in pain and in a better place reunited with Goldie, Caliope, and Thumper. I love you Lucy!

Traditional Shopping

Tonight my mom and I went to dinner at Moffets and then shopping at the mall. It was our "thing" for this year. We started a small tradition, I think when I was in High School of going to the Christmas Craft Fair at Knott's Berry Farm and then having dinner at Pofolks. This lasted for a quite a few years until we decided that the craft fair really wasn't all that great anymore and it wasn't worth paying the fee to get in. The next couple of years after that we always did something on one night in December as tradition. One year Vickie, my mom, and I went to dinner and shopping at Victoria Gardens. The past two years I think we missed out on keeping up with the tradition. So we put it back into action and I am glad because it is one of my favorite things about the holiday season. It was a lot of fun and I got some Christmas shopping done so that's a good thing. I love the holiday traditions that my family has, makes the season so special.

**More favorite family holiday traditions to come and I am sorry I have been slacking on these posts.**

Work Christmas Parties

I always look forward to my work Christmas Party and it is indeed one of my FAVORITE things about the HOLIDAYS. This weekend I went to two work Christmas parties. Friday night was the party for my work and Saturday night was the party for Rodger's work.

My work party was at The Cheesecake Factory and Dave and Busters. I pretty much ate till I burst at The Cheesecake Factory. I highly recommend the appetizer platter.

Have I mentioned how fun my boss and his wife are? That's Patron shots for everyone! They know how to have a good time.

Me and Rachael- She won like 600 points and got the Bart Simpson doll. Rodger and I won like 200 points and got Sweetarts although Rodger did win 3 prizes from the crane game.

Had some drinks and played some games at Dave Busters and had a great time!

*****************************************

Rodger's work party was at The Westin in Pasadena. I felt so glamorous. Please enjoy the blurry picture of us. Also, had great appetizers. I accidentally ate mushrooms. So gross!

The party was a blast and I had fun meeting Rodger's co-workers. And really who doesn't love to get dressed up?

The parties really kicked the holiday season into high gear!

Christmas Greetings

This FAVORITES post is for Friday when I didn't post anything.

Another thing I love about Christmas is the CARDS. I just bought mine for this year. I picked out two different types and now I need to make a list of who I need to send them to, and then actually send them.

I love every part of Christmas cards. The buying of the cards and stamps, the writing, the addressing, and the decorating of the envelopes with stickers.

Even better is the receiving of the cards. I love opening the cards, reading the letters, and seeing the pictures.

I know it can be a pain to send all of the cards out but it's so much fun to receive them.

"OJ Simpson not a Jew"

This is not a Favorite part of Christmas post and I know I missed posting one yesterday. I was busy and didn't even go on the computer but I will post two or three today or tomorrow and that will make up for it. Fair enough right?

So anyways I am interrupting my Holiday Season posts to comment on the OJ Simpson sentencing yesterday. The title of the post is from Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song so it sort of Holiday(ish). Anyhow, OJ's sentencing was a topic of discussion at work, home, and my work Christmas party yesterday. My thoughts are that this guy is just lucky he is not serving a life sentence for killing two people and he has been out of jail this whole time until he committed another crime which brings me to my next point. If you murder two people and get away with it why wouldn't you just move away and live a quiet life and stay out of trouble?

I think Jimmy Kimmel summed it up best last night on his show-

"For those keeping score at home that's no jail term served for murdering two people, fifteen years for stealing back your old football cards."

A FAVORITE for all Holidays

I love dressing up the cats for every holiday or really any regular day too. It really just cracks me up. But I bought these reindeer ears today and the photo shoot shortly followed. So today's FAVORITE part of the CHRISTMAS season is being able to put the cat(s) in ridiculous costumes. Usually Herbie is the only one who will really allow this sort of thing so this is him putting up with me so that I could have pictures for today's FAVORITE post.

Christmas Survey

So I know this isn't one particular FAVORITE for the day but my aunt emailed me this survey and I thought it would be fun to post since it is all about CHRISTMAS. I know it doesn't really count but this survey is my favorite thing about Christmas today because I am too tired (lazy) to write about anything original today. Tomorrow for sure though I am back to my favorites.

So here is some fun Christmas information about me-

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper
2. Real tree or Artificial? Real
3. When do you put up the tree? This year we are putting it up this weekend. (You better believe this will be a "favorite" post.)
4. When do you take the tree down? New Year's day. But let's be real I am never involved in this activity. Makes me too sad.
5. Do you like eggnog? No, Vickie likes it enough for the both of us,

7. Hardest person to buy for? Sometimes my dad, really any guy except Rodger. So much easier to shop for girls.
8. Easiest person to buy for? Vickie and my Mom
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Oh there's a nativity scene this year, it's being shipped to me and it's AWESOME. Future "Favorite" post to come about this.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? N/A, no bad gifts, it's always the thought and gesture that count

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Santa Clause
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Both
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Can't think of anything. Pretty sure I love everything about Christmas.
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Red and Green
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Anything with cheese and butter.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Not sure yet. I think I am easy to shop for, I pretty much like everything.

"Holidays on the KOST"

Today's favorite thing about Christmas is the Christmas music they play on KOST103.5.

Every year I look forward to this starting. This year they started it about a week or so before Thanksgiving. I love getting into the car and listening to non-stop Christmas music. And you can always count on KOST to play the staple songs.

I love that they play Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" at least once an hour. It's not Christmas unless I have heard that about 50 times. And I am not even being sarcastic.

I think everyone who lives in Southern California would agree that the Christmas Season isn't in full swing until 103.5 is belting out the holiday tunes.

Christmas Season Favorites

*In celebration of the Christmas season I have decided to post my favorite things about Christmastime. I am going to post one favorite thing a day from today until the BIG day.*

Today's favorite thing is the decorations on Myrtle Ave. They really are so nice this year. I love the lighted ornaments hanging in the trees. These pictures are from Saturday night.
Don't they just put you in the Christmas spirit and make you feel all warm and cozy inside?
