Whirlwind

It really is amazing how much I can accomplish in 30 minutes.

This morning for example-

7:15 I drag myself out of bed and I'm off on my "morning sprint" which really isn't a sprint at all but you would think it is for the amount I get done.

After that I take a nice bubble bath. Ahh, what a way to start the morning. Get out, find clothes to wear, dig around for a scarf because, gasp are we going to actually have a fall in California? Gasp, did I hear a forecast of rain? At any rate I can't pass up wearing a scarf. Go into the bathroom, put on a minimal amount of makeup, make my hair look somewhat presentable (it's mediocre at best). I'll wash it tonight I swear.

Then it's watch a little of the the channel 5 news, go downstairs, write and address 2 Thanksgiving cards, go online, check blogs, facebook, email, do a small google chat, and sign off.

Next I put my shoes on (my big "Bearpaw" boots, because of the aforementioned weather), pet the cats, grab some yogurt, kiss Sushi goodbye, and I am out the door at 7:45.

Out of breath, right?

On the opposite end of the spectrum you would be shocked at how little I can get done on a whole Sunday.

All I forgot to do this morning was mail the actual cards I wrote. Must do that now.

Leave a message

The laughs never stop at my house.

Phone rings, mom answers- "hello", long pause, then "no sorry, we're not home." Hangs up the phone. Me- "Who was that?" Mom- "Time Warner- did I just tell them we weren't home?"

Followed by laughter.

I could listen to it over and over, and I pretty much do.

How do you say 'money pit' in German?

More car problems....

Not really surprised....

Who knew an oil pan could cost so much money????

I really don't want to buy a new car....

I really don't want my car to keep having problems....

I really enjoy not having a car payment, of course I am have paid more in repairs in the last three months than my monthly car payments would have been....

I just want this to all come together so that I have no car payment and no car repairs to pay for....

Too much to ask????

Probably being that it's a Volkswagen....

Dear Steve Jobs,

Thank you for making the Ipod so that my boyfriend and I can lay on my bed and listen to hundreds of songs. He has one ear phone and I have the other. I sing to him and he smiles. (Sometimes he laughs at my singing, it's okay I don't blame him. I would laugh to.) And sometimes he sings and I really smile because he has a great voice. You should hear him sing Elvis songs. But I really love when we are listening to one of "our songs" and we lock eyes. It's the simpleness of it all that melts my heart.

Sincerely,
A grateful customer

Double Take

J Crew featured "me" on the cover of their new catalogue. You can tell which one I'm talking about right?

You know the old saying?

"The couple that goes to the dentist together stays together."

That's how Rodger and I spent our Saturday morning. Him in one room, me in the other. Every once in a while when the dentist left the room during my crown build-up and prep I would look across the hall and wave at Rodger getting his teeth x-rayed.

Three shots in my mouth to numb it. The one in the roof of my mouth hurt particularly bad this time and is still sore but I will take the shots over feeling any sort of pain. The dentist I saw yesterday I have only seen a few other times and every single time she draws me a pictures of a tooth. It's kind of funny. But she was really nice to both Rodger and I.

Not exactly how I like to spend my Saturday morning but at least I had good company and they played "Big Daddy" and "Home Alone". And I got to get a sandwich at Togos afterwards.

As much as I am there one would really think I love the dentist. They're nice people but love is too strong of a term. One technician told me that I am there so much they should name a room after me. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry so I laughed because you know, it is kind of funny.

First Tuesday

Today I exercised the right and privilege of voting. My parents didn't make us go to church every Sunday but they make sure we know how important voting is. As my dad so eloquently put it the other night, "You guys should be voting, that's what we raised you for." That made me laugh. It's nice to know my parents still believe that considering my sister and I have such differing political views from them.
So I did as I was taught. And I got a sticker. How can you go wrong?

It was exciting and actually a little emotional for me. I shed a little tear after voting. This is the first time I have truly felt passionate about a candidate. I won't be sad if McCain becomes president I will just be really disappointed that Obama won't be president. Does that make sense?

It's an exciting day and I look forward to watching all of the news tonight about the race for president and to see which propositions passed and didn't pass. I wish Tim Russert was still alive to report on this day. I always enjoyed listening to him talk politics.

So I hope you all voted. It makes you feel pretty good plus it gives you the right to complain about the government for the next four years if things don't go the way you like.

Don't forget to vote tomorrow!

This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago.

Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed
nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking
for the vote.

And by the end of the night, they were barely alive.
Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing
went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of
'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'

(Lucy Burns)
They beat Lucy Burns, chained her hands to the cell bars above
her head and left her hanging for the night, bleeding and gasping
for air. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_Burns)

(Dora Lewis)
They hurled Dora Lewis into a dark cell, smashed her
head against an iron bed and knocked her out cold. Her cellmate,
Alice Cosu, thought Lewis was dead and suffered a heart attack.
Additional affidavits describe the guards grabbing, dragging,
beating, choking, slamming, pinching, twisting and kicking the women.

Thus unfolded the 'Night of Terror' on Nov. 15, 1917,
when the warden at the Occoquan Workhouse in Virginia ordered his
guards to teach a lesson to the suffragists imprisoned there because
they dared to picket Woodrow Wilson's White House for the right
to vote.

For weeks, the women's only water came from an open pail. Their
food--all of it colorless slop--was infested with worms.

(Alice Paul)
When one of the leaders, Alice Paul, embarked on a hunger strike, they tied her to a chair,

forced a tube down her throat and poured liquid into her until she vomited.

She was tortured like this for weeks until word was smuggled out to the press.
"We need to get out and vote and use this right
that was fought so hard for by these very courageous women. Whether
you vote democratic, republican or independent party -
remember to vote.
History is being made."

Halloween Evening Stroll

Nothing like a fun Friday night Halloween.
Fire breathing Rodger.

Rodger went as a Dunder Mifflin employee.

Now we're talking!

That's the stuff!

That darn cow again. This time in his autumnal gear.

My contribution to Halloween.

No one told me we were going to McDonald's.

And then we came back to torture, I mean have Halloween fun with Herbie.

Oh and it was his Birthday too!
