This morning we made our way up Highway One. Our main planned stop before getting to Monterrey was Big Sur. We ended up making a couple of other stops at a few different Vista Points.
These were some of the sights we saw. The whole drive was just gorgeous.
This cute little squirrel was quite friendly.
We stopped for lunch in Big Sur. Rodger was very excited to show me around Big Sur. He was there about four years ago and I had never been. We had lunch at a local place (pretty much the only place around) and explored the city and State Parks a bit.
My favorite stop of the drive was in Big Sur at Pfieffer's Beach. A great area to wade in the water, climb rocks, and explore. There was definently beautiful scenery to enjoy. In one area the rocks come together to create a hole that the waves and sunlight flash through.Big Sur with my Big Sir
We also made a stop at the Bixby Bridge.

Next was Point Lobo which is pretty close to Carmel and Monterey. There were some areas to hike and rocks to climb but it was a great view of the ocean and we got to see some seals. There were two that were playing and swimming around pretty close to us.
Tonight we went down to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner and to look around. We also attempted to see Cannery Row but couldn't find much (or at least what I remembered from being here before). I thought maybe the economy had shut down a lot of the stores. But when we got back to the room and looked at the map we found that we just hadn't walked far enough. We are going to go back tomorrow after we go to the Monterey Aquarium. A really nice day and evening. It's very cold here and even rained tonight.
Tomorrow through Saturday we will be in San Francisco, hoping I can blog there but we are staying at a MotorLodge so there really is no telling. At least the parking is free.

Sounds like a great day. You are lucky that you always find nice people to take your picture together. I am jealous of the cool weather and rain. Can't wait to hear about your next adventure.
your drive is making me so jealous. robbie has never been up the california coast (and i have only done the drive in bits and pieces) and i really want to go next time we are in california.
You better post day four or people may start thinking something happened to you!
