Today's Commute

AZUSA, Calif. (KABC) -- The 210 Freeway was a big trouble spot
Wednesday as the afternoon commute proceeded. An overturned tanker left a huge
amount of liquid asphalt on the eastbound side of the freeway in Azusa.
That sums up my commute to and from work today. Keep in mind I don't even take the freeway to work. But I live and work close to freeways so it affected my commute in a big way. It took me 25 minutes to get to work and 40 minutes to get home. Probably doesn't sound too bad to some people but I work five minutes from home. The roads were so crowded everywhere and don't you just love when people go through the intersection when the light is almost red on their side and they have nowhere to go so they are stuck in the intersection when it is your turn to go? I am guilty of it myself but it's really annoying to be on the other end of it. My radio and I had time to bond and I listened to parts of a lot different songs. I have radio ADD. "All the single ladies", "I'm going home, to the place where I belong, where your love has always been enough for me", "Like my chicken fried, cold beer on a Friday night", "But I won't hesitate no more, no more it cannot wait, I'm yours", "Stupid girl, I should've known I should've known that I'm not a princess, this ain't a fairytale". And as if that wasn't enough to keep the car ride lively I had the suspense of whether or not I was going to run out of gas. I did not.

Maybe tomorrow....

It was a tough commute yesterday. My usual 10 minute commute turned into 25 minutes. You would think people would be more friendly when we are all thrown into a mess - seems to bring out the worst unfortunately. Think how I felt, my poor little Herbie was home waiting for dinner!
