Long Family Big Bear Trip 2016

In May we made our way up to Big Bear for the Long Family trip.
In the past we have gone in August so this trip was not as warm. Actually it was pretty cold.

Big Bear is so beautiful! I can't say enough good things about the place.
We had a big beautiful cabin and there were about 15 or so of us.

We went on lots of walks and hikes and ate lots of great food.
Rodger and I also went on a group bike ride while Ellie napped with Rodger's mom.
There was also a nice hot tub at the cabin and we all went in that a few times.
Kona had a great time with Amy's dogs.

It was another great Big Bear trip. Can't wait for the next one!

Palm Desert Trip

In May Ellie and I went on an overnight trip to Palm Desert. Vickie, Paul, and Olivia, and my Mom and Peggy were already there so we decided we wanted to join for a quick over night as well. Rodger had to stay home with Kona and I didn't want to drive with Ellie by myself so I enlisted the help of Rodger's sisters. We left early Saturday morning and got there in good time. There was food, swimming, sun, and lots of good times including an extremely salty piece of streak.

It was such a nice weekend playing in the water and relaxing in the sun. Ellie loves the water and is always such a good sport going all these different places with us. She is the perfect travel companion.
I am so glad she loves the water as much as we do.

Thankful: Palm Desert in November

Today I am thankful for Palm Desert in December. The sun was at its prime. And I so enjoyed laying by the pool and swimming. I think heaven is Palm Desert in November. It was that nice.

We were there to celebrate my Mom's birthday. And celebrate we did! Aside fr the pool action we talked, ate wonderful meals, and shopped.

It was a great weekend and I am certainly thankful for that. We should make it a tradition.

The more exciting things

I suppose I will save you all for the usual "I don't know why I don't blog very much" and just get on with it.

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to lately. I mean I don't have any pictures of what I do with most in time, but it's probably not too hard to picture me driving in traffic, sitting at my desk at work, and laying in bed watching TV. So more accurately here are some pictures of the more exciting things going on lately.

Last weekend we went out to eat for Amy's birthday and they gave her a very large knife to cut the cake with.

Also last weekend we met up with Jenn and Jaime and their dogs at Huntington Dog Beach. Rodger's sisters and Pini also met up with us in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day and much cooler than being at home. Kona loved the water and the dogs that were her size. The smaller ones not so much.

And when we got home Kona decided she wanted to read a book. Actually she was after Bo Obama .
What can I say? She has great taste, like me. I will have to blog about my dream about having an affair with the president and then becoming pregnant with his baby. It was crazy! I don't know why I have these dreams. I haven't even watched "Scandal" in months.

Also, let's ignore the fact that I still haven't unpacked my office completely. I probably just need another bookshelf. I just can't get rid of books.

This weekend (Friday night) Rodger and I went to the fair with his mom, sisters, and Pini. There was the usual food, exhibits, and people watching.

I tried to tell Pini that Baby Bear doesn't drink.

I am still laughing at the Bear family portrait.
Also, it was quite timely that I had a bowl of chocolate-covered strawberries that looked like I was holding porridge.

Last night I babysat for Olivia. We had a great time. So much so that she didn't even go to bed. She is such a sweetheart. She had a bit of a cough and was crying a little and in between cries she asked for her Mommy. I thought that was pretty cute. We played, read, and took pictures. It's always a treat to get to spend time with my adorable little niece.

I will see what I can do about getting some pictures of the less exciting times.
Just so you have the full picture.

Big Bear Weekend

Last weekend we went on a Long family trip up to Big Bear. Rodger's sister rented a house for all of us to stay in. We left on Friday and came home on Sunday. The house was really nice, it had a game room and a hot tub! There were twelve people and four dogs so there was plenty of fun to be had.

I hadn't been to Big Bear in a long time and forgot how beautiful it is.

I particularly loved this little tree next to the lake. We kept seeing all kinds of tress that we wanted to cut down for Christmas trees.

A great weekend and we were all exhausted after!
