Hawaii Day One: Oahu

We arrived in Honolulu today for our two week Hawaiian getaway.

We left LAX this morning and barely made our flight because security was so backed up. We flew with a ton of USC fans because the Trojans played the University of Hawaii tonight in Honolulu. The flight even played USC's fight song over the loudspeakers. It was a good flight, we flew Delta which had a television on every seat so that kept us pretty entertained. I watched some television shows, the beginnings of two different movies, and played a couple of games. It was actually kind of a fun flight.

When we got to Honolulu we got our rental car, a Nissan Versa (light blue and very cute, I think), then went to "Nico's", which is a fish place by the port that was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives". It was yummy and different than anything I have tried before. We checked out the port area, which was fun for me since I work in Hawaii shipping so it's kind of cool to see where it all happens. I am going to try to keep the whole "We ship to them" and "I know that place" to a minimum. I am sure it gets a little old to Rodger.

Next we drove to Waikiki, which is where our hotel is. It's in a pretty good location, not right on the beach but a couple of blocks away and our room is on the tenth floor so its fun to sit on the balcony and watch what's happening below. I will post pictures of our view tomorrow. I am too tired right now, it's 12:30am California time and we have been up since 5:30am.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with walking to Walmart (to buy some essentials and snacks), going to the beach (I love how warm the water is here), and just relaxing a bit. Also, there were two huge rainbows, so pretty!

Tonight we walked around the main street of Waikiki and picked up some food then walked back to our hotel in the rain. It rains off and on here but this was a pretty heavy rain tonight and it just started up again.

We are excited to be here and I am excited to share our upcoming Hawaiian adventures with you but right now I am going to sleep. Tomorrow morning, bright and early, we are going to Pearl Harbor so I need to get some rest.

Goodnight!

How fun to be on a plane with a group of Trojan fans. Glad you are having a good time. Can't wait to hear about Pearl Harbor!

if you have time take a leisurely drive up to the Turtle Bay Hilton on the North Shore and have a drink on the deck there around sunset...my brother takes us there when we visit him in hawaii, and it's a very pretty spot, you'll like it. :)
