Stroller Convention- I mean Disneyland

Rodger and I went to Disneyland yesterday. I got him tickets for his birthday. I got the Southern California residents deal where you can go to both parks both days. So finally 2 months after his birthday we went. It was a blast, although very crowded. I really have never seen so many strollers in my life. To be a baby again and be able to take a nap while being pushed around a theme park.

These pictures aren't in any order. One of the first rides we went on was Space Mountain. I hadn't been on it since they redid it and now it is darker and has more drops (I think). While it was still early we went on Splash Mountain and got soaked. I don't remember ever getting so wet on that ride before. They redid the boats so now you are sort of pushed forward. Poor Rodger had to sit in front and he was dripping. We were kind of miserable for awhile but decided we really didn't care because we were at Disneyland.

After we shared a $13.00 salad for lunch we went on some more rides and then headed over to California Disney. We went on Soaring Over California, which is so fun and then we went to see the Aladdin musical. If you are ever at California Disney you have to see this show. Rodger and I were saying that it is something you would pay to see at the Pantages or some place like that. So great! Also at California Disney we watched Pixar parade, which was fun. It had all of the different characters from the Disney Pixar movies.

So then it was back to Disneyland for a few more rides. We didn't go on the Nemo Submarine ride because the line was SO long so we are going to try and get on that first when we go to use our passes again in a couple of weeks. We did get on the Buzz Lightyear ride, which is pretty cool. I got more points than Rodger and you can email the picture to yourself. I will have to post it later. It's pretty funny. I really didn't know what I was doing but my arm is pretty soar.

We saw the Fantasmic show, which was really impressive. We are going to try and get there earlier to get better seats next time. These are more pictures from the rest of the night. We stayed until 10:30pm. Pretty good for me because I get tired fast. We decided that I have "old people blood".

Anyways, we had such a great time and are excited to go back in a couple of weeks.

Suddenly I See= Excellent Dental Advise?

I was looking at my Sitemeter and ran across someone from Tennessee that looked at my blog because they did a Google search for "tooth implant bone graf". I would like it to be noted that I am #17 on the list for that particular Google search. Poor guy that came across my site looking for information. Although I admit I did the same search a few months back before I knew that I had to have one.
It just cracks me up to see why random people come across my blog. There have been some odd searches but this one is my favorite. I can just picture some poor guy with a missing tooth sitting at his computer looking for some dental advice and solace and seeing my blog. He probably feels much better now. LOL! Good thing I didn't take any pictures of what I looked like a couple of days after the implant. He probably would stick with the missing tooth.
Anyways, I saw that and it gave me a chuckle and it even got a "Dwight fist pump".

4th Annual San Diego Trip

This past weekend Rodger and I took our 4th annual trip to San Diego. The first two years we stayed two nights and last year and this year we just stayed one night.

We walked to Seaside Village by Downtown San Diego and looked in the little stores there. There is this one Christmas store that has a cat that lives there. The first year we went there were two cats (brothers- Jack and Max) but then last year I noticed that there was only one cat. The girl working in the store told me that Jack passed away. So now there is only Max and I look forward to seeing him every year. I think it may be time for him to get a bigger bed. I know I am partial when it comes to cats but isn't he so cute? There was also a small duck walking in and out of the same store from his little pond. Kind of weird but cute.

There is an old aircraft carrier that sits in the bay by downtown and every year we go there are more memorials. This year they had built a Bob Hope Memorial. It is really neat with the service men and women in a semi circle as if to show them watching Bob Hope perform on one of the USO Tours.

Saturday night we went to Old Town San Diego. We took the train/trolley this year and that was quite the debacle. I just think that mass transit and I don't mix but we made it there and back in one piece so that's all that matters. In Old Town we went to the Coyote Cafe where they make the best home made tortillas. Normally I get the carne asada steak but because of the teeth situation I got chicken, which was also good. But Rodger got the carne asada and I was a little jealous. But let me tell you these tortillas are not to be believed. If you are ever down there you must try them.

Sunday we met my cousin, Matt, for lunch at a little cafe by the beach. The weather was perfect. It was so great to see Matt and catch up. It's so strange not to see him very much since we pretty much grew up together but when we do get to see each other it feels like no time has passed.

Rodger and I hung out a little at the beach afterwards and then drove home. Can you believe how beautiful it is? Matt only lives like 5 minutes from the beach in the below picture. How lucky is he? There were a lot of people taking advantage of the great weather. I guess it was the first really nice weekend there since last summer.
So it was another great San Diego trip. We will have to plan something really special for our 5th annual trip. And by we, I mean Rodger should plan something and I will go along for the trip. : )

"Just think of it as a power nap with assistance"- R

On Friday afternoon I have to go to the dentist and be "put under" to have the beginning of an implant put in for one tooth and another tooth pulled. The tooth that is getting pulled is a back bottom molar (are there top molars?) and the implant is for a top tooth, both on different sides of the mouth.

The implant is being put into a tooth that had been pulled at the end of November because the crown didn't have anything to hook onto anymore. They pulled the tooth and put in a bone graph. On Friday they are putting a hollow screw into that bone graph, this is what they call an implant.

I am a little nervous mostly because I don't want to be in pain after it is over but I am glad that I will not be awake for it. Last time I was awake when I got my tooth pulled and it was much worse then I thought it would be. What the dentist called "pressure" I call horrible pain. As far along as they have come in dentistry the pulling of a tooth is still pretty barbaric but when they get it out it is sweet relief but it stays sore for a couple of days. I have some jitters but I just keep thinking that I have to do it and I will be happy when it's over. All I will have to worry about then is paying off the dental bill. For the amount of money it costs these aren't the kind of implants I had in mind. (Actually I really don't want any kind of implants but I never thought at 26 I would be getting a tooth implant. Oh well!)

So be thinking about me on Friday afternoon and eat lots of good food for me this weekend because I have a feeling I will be on a liquid diet.

The Little Mermaid Ballet

One of the many reasons that I love Rodger is that he bought me "The Little Mermaid" ballet tickets for my birthday. I know he wasn't really interested in going but he bought them anyways. Then Friday night he hurt is back and didn't sleep at all and was pretty much miserable all of Saturday but he still went. He got dressed up and sat there through the whole thing in pain because he knew how much I wanted to see it.
The ballet was put on by The Inland Pacific Ballet Company was based on the Hans Christian Anderson version of "The Little Mermaid" with a happy twist at the end. In the version that the ballet company created they had the little mermaid's father give the prince fins so that he could become a merman and marry the little mermaid.

The set was beautiful and the dancing was unbelievable. The performers were so graceful and talented. The ballet was held in the Bridges Auditorium at the Claremont Colleges. It was my first experience at the ballet and I had a great time. I would highly recommend it.

Country Duets

Jenn told me about the duet cover of "Umbrella" that Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood did in concert and it reminded me of the "Chasing Cars" cover that Tim and Faith did in concert this past summer.

Here are the two videos. I love "Chasing Cars" and Tim and Faith's version is very pretty. The video isn't from the concert that my mom and I went to but they are wearing the same outfits. Anyways, check out the videos. I really love cover songs. It's cool to hear other artist's spins on a song.
