My car is currently not running. On Wednesday when I was trying to leave work for lunch I put the key in the door and the alarm went off. When this happens you can't start the car. This used to be able to be deactivated by my control key. But since I lost it when I was moving home I have just been hoping that the alarm wouldn't go off and until this week it hadn't. So my car sat at work all day until someone from AAA came and somehow got the battery to start and the alarm to stop. This got my car home and then it wouldn't start again. So last night it got towed to our mechanics. They told me today that there was nothing they could do because the alarm is hooked up to a computer in the car that only the dealer can access.
Well we all know "the dealer" equals a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$.
It is now at the dealer where I was told they would be taking apart the driver side door because there is something wrong with the wiring in it that makes the alarm go off. I knew something was wrong with the door because the window doesn't always go up or down and you have to lock the door from the outside of the door. (All very minor inconveniences for me). Norman at the VW dealer thinks that it is the wiring for the door but he can't assure me that this is the issue and may just be part of the problem. He said this has to be fixed before they can do anything else. So my car has been there for about 5 hours (thanks to my parents taking their afternoon to get it over there) and I already have a $400 plus bill.
I am just hoping that it is the door wiring and that they won't have to do anything else. And I also hope that when they get the alarm off the car will start and there are not engine problems also.

This goes under the category of it only happens to Katie. Let's keep a positive attitude and hopefully this will be the solution. Remember, its only money and you can't take it with you!
Sorry about the car trouble. Sounds simalar to the reasons I got rid of my old car. It got to the point where I was spending more on fixing "minor problems" than the car was worth.
ok I'm picturing the alarm going off for 24+ hours. Is this what happened??? Because if so, I feel bad for you, but the image is still pretty funny...
Well, it went off for a really long time but in short intervals. And it was really funny. I am sure the neighbors thought so also.
